Juniper berries are a fragrant spice native to northern climates. It is widely used as an accompaniment to red game meats, such as wild boar or deer, or combined with pâtés made with this type of meat.
therapeutic uses: these berries are said to be used to stimulate the appetite; but juniper, especially fresh juniper, is a diuretic and should therefore be used with care.
Flavor and smell:the flavor of the fresh berries is milder than that of the dried ones and they are usually used whole.
Geography: the entire northern hemisphere; we find it throughout Europe, in Asia (from the southwest to the Himalayas) and in North America, from the southern coast to the northern mountains. The main juniper producing countries are Hungary and some southern European countries (mainly Italy).
